Part 3
Before you start to read, I just wanted to warn you that this is a
long autobiography, and it's really not all that interesting. More information
on and links to significant people and experiences can be found on my
friends, activities and pictures pages. I also want to warn you that
I've lived a spoiled life, so please forgive me if I sound like I'm
bragging. So with that out of the way, here we go!
My parents came to the United States in 1971, where they were married.
They moved to St. Louis, Missouri, and in 1972 my sister was born, followed
by me in 1977. My parents still live in St. Louis, and my sister now
lives in San Francisco.
For school, I went to Mason Ridge, in the Parkway District, for 1st
and 2nd grade, then the Forsyth School for 3rd thru 5th grade, and then
to the Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School (MICDS) until
I graduated. During these years, I excelled in music, primarily on my
clarinet (which I still play). I played in the pit orchestra for Cabaret,
West Side Story and Guys and Dolls. I also went on a band
tour that visited France, Germany, Belgium, Liechtenstein, Switzerland
and Austria. I also received best soloist at a local competition, and
#1 ratings at the district and state level. During my Junior and Senior
years, I was accepted into the Missouri All-State band in 24th (last)
and 7th place, respectively.
Outside of music, I also joined stage crew, where I learned that I
love to work with my hands and with tools (especially power ones...)
and was even appointed head carpenter for a couple shows. Another extra-curricular
activity that I loved was riflery. I learned how to shoot targets with
a .22 caliber long rifle. I still love to shoot and my dad has also
picked up the sport as well (targets only! NO ANIMALS!) He's picked
up quite a collection too. My favorite is his sniper-grade .387 which
must weigh at least 15 pounds and is accurate enough to hit a quarter
at 100 yards, or a 5-inch diameter circle at 300 yards (that translates
to being able to shoot a person's head at almost 1/5 of a mile!) Scary
huh? Well, what's even my scary is my dad's .45 handgun. It feels like
a toy because it's so light and easy to point, and it looks like a toy
too! For that reason, even though I love target-shooting, I dissapprove
of all handguns. Ok, enough of this controversial subject.
After graduating from MICDS, I got my first job. After applying to
6 different temp agencies, Kelly Temporary Services found quite a few
positions for me (Yup! I'm a Kelly girl!). I worked for all kinds of
companies: Gerlemann Electric, Westport/Maryland Heights Chamber of
Commerce, Worldwide Insurance, General Electric Aircraft Engines, Barnes-Jewish-Christian
Hospital Rehabilitation Clinic and Mercantile Bank Mortgages. After
spending all the money I made on hanging out with friends, it was time
for the next stage of my life: college.
Well, if you're still reading my autobiography, then let me thank
you for caring! Please continue on to Part 2
or if you really want to, you can jump to Part
3.
